wWw PDX at Raven & Rose's The Rookery
Women Who Whiskey returned to northwest Portland's Raven & Rose this month, a beautiful bar with an excellent bar in the upstairs part called The Rookery.
Raven and Rose has a long and fascinating history.
The Rookery's cocktails are interesting and delicious--and they also have a long selection of whiskeys.
The event was a classic Northwest evening. We had people who had been interested since the first event but couldn't come before. We met some lovely ladies, compared shoes, and favorite Manhattans. The servers were great--they even put together some tasting flights for some of the attendees. A Japanese whisky mixed in with two different types of Scotch was one that was highly enjoyed.
One of those in the flight was the Balvenie Caribbean, which is one of my new favorites, so I had to go just for a straight dram of that. Not smokey and an amazing finish.
We also had the volunteer coordinator, Kate, from the upcoming WhiskyTown event join us. She brought info cards and some free tokens for tastings. She talked a bit about what Whiskytown is, and also talked about volunteer opportunities with them.
All in all, the event was a smashing success, and we can't wait for the next one!
